Meetings of Alloa Community Council 2018

Thursday’s (30-08-2018) Meeting re Greenfield House - Statement from the Chair of Alloa Community Council.

There appears to have been some confusion over last Thursday's Greenfield House meeting. This meeting was to be have been a 'working group meeting' and not a public meeting.  Therefore, the meeting would not have been advertised in the Alloa Advertiser or by Alloa Community Council. So I am a bit surprised some members of the public thought this was a public meeting.  Alloa Community Council would always publicise our meetings. The public are welcome to attend our working group but it will not be in the format of a public meeting.  Alloa Community Council will update the community of any actions.

Thursday's meeting was organised when I, the ACC Chair was on holiday.  Unfortunately, I have a prior commitment on a Thursday, to take my son to do volunteering for Riding for the Disabled, so I could not attend.  There were five Alloa Community Councillors in attendance.

Alloa Community Councillors are elected, unpaid volunteers, some of whom have full time Jobs and are also involved in other community groups. Currently we have three vacancies and I would love others to join Alloa Community Council to help the community we live in.  The closing date for applications is 10th September.  Please apply and the forms can be accessed from our web site. http://alloa-community-council.btck.co.uk/Co-OptiontoAlloaCommunityCouncil

New members will be selected at our September meeting (25th). Office bearers for the coming year will be selected at our AGM on 30th October. This is your opportunity to become involved.

Alloa Community Council meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Tommy Downs Room, Alloa Town Hall, everyone is welcome. At our September meeting Luke Graham MP will give a talk on the 'City Deal'.

Greenfield House is an important historic icon for Alloa and I would like to see the community unite to save this building for future generations.  The notes from the first meeting can be found on our Facebook page and on our web site.  http://alloa-community-council.btck.co.uk/Co-OptiontoAlloaCommunityCouncil

Alloa Town Hall - Tommy Downs room  between 7-9 pm on the following dates:-

Alloa Community Council meet and discussed issues of concern with the Police.  As local residents had raised issues with us we highlighted these to the Community Policeman.  We often have guest speakers and our agenda is often quite full.  The Agenda is added to our Home page before the meetings
